Raised in New York, Alex’s introduction into fitness started at age 16. He started off using a friend’s simple weight set – a bar with about 70 pounds of weight. It was not until he was in his mid-thirties that he became inspired by having access to a full gym in his New York condo.
A few years after relocating to Charlotte, North Carolina, a friend introduced him to the phenomenal success of industry fitness leader Obi Obadike. It was Obi’s approach to fitness and nutrition that sparked Alex to take his fitness to another level. He wanted to look like Obi and achieve it the same way – through healthy eating and consistent exercise. At age 47, Alex gradually went from being a regular guy with a moderate exercise routine (who was eating his fair share of fried foods, pizza, candy, cookies and cake) to a six-day-a-week “gym rat.” He became known as “Lex” and “that old guy at the gym.”
Lex’s transformation hasn’t come without some personal challenges. At age 51, he had total hip replacement. He used his recovery time to begin the process of reviewing, studying, and eventually earning his personal trainer certification. His desire to help change lives through fitness took off during his rehabilitation process.
Today, in his mid-fifties, Lex’s dream to help as many people become the best version of themselves is coming true. He is targeting people over 40 who have felt challenged about getting fit. He prides himself on pushing people past their self-imposed limits. His clients have become motivated to become better versions of themselves as they get older.

An overcomer, Dr. Knowles’ intense desire to support others through positive change and authentic transformation is directly related to some of her own personal life transformations – surfacing and thriving on the other side of divorce, morbid obesity, first-generation education, and a lack of purpose, she now fully embraces a lifestyle that is grounded in choices that are mentally, physically and spiritually healthy and devotes much of her free time to personally coaching others through their own life makeovers.
